Emerson Electric
Some of you have already heard about my moment of grace earlier this week and know why there is a picture of a fan above this text. For those who have not, allow me to clarify:
Monday night I accidentally got my thumb caught in a fan exactly like this. This is an antique Emerson Electric fan circa 1940. All metal, I think mainly iron and brass - it is the heaviest and sturdiest fan I've ever picked up. And let me assure you that those are nice and sturdy metal blades too. These fans are very powerful and were known for being really great air throwers. This little fan cooled almost as much as a newer model fan we had in the house that was about 7 times bigger.
....and I got my thumb caught in it. It is fortunately still attached, but a layer of skin was pretty much completely sheared off the top of it. It is disgusting looking....still...and this is 5 days later. I've chosen to spare you the visual aids.
Fun. As for why we were running a bunch of fans in my house...our a/c went out 2 days after Rita came through. We were without a/c for 9 days. 9 of the hottest end-of-September/beginning-of-October days on record. Yay.
I'm not going to rant about that here. I've already done that enough, as many of you know. =P
K, well I am off to Bryan/College Station to see some music. I haven't been there in like 12 years or so...oughtta be interesting.

How did you like Revolution?

Wow. You must be psychic. ::snort::
It was really great. I don't remember there being any cool places like that when I went to school there. And I am using the term "cool" to loosely define any place that did NOT play country and western music. ::shudder::
I'll have to post my Zap!* photos soon.
Have you ever been there? I know you are going to be there in a few weeks, but if you have never been it is just a quaint little place by the railroad tracks.
...with lots of picnic tables and a cool Kokopelli sculpture*.
Some weird guy was up on stage playing left handed bass in a maroon jumpsuit too*. That was pretty freaky.
=P
*photos soon to come

Doesn't anyone care about my thumb?!?!?!?!?!?!?
::sniff::
Sheesh!! Well for those of you lurky types that have been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for an update about the progress of my thumb, I'll have you know that it is better but still a little sore and swollen.
Ok, so maybe that isn't as exciting as talking about Steve Austin the keyboard player, but it sure is a PITA for me.
Now, quick!! Everybody get over to JHJA and say something!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, your thumb. I guess the pics of Ace in maroon threw me, I'm still dizzy.
So, how's your thumb?

"I guess the pics of Ace in maroon threw me, I'm still dizzy."
Well it is completely understandable under the circumstances.
Right now my thumb is itchy. Which I think means it is healing at lightning speed. Thanks for asking!!
:D :D
