Skills Of An Artist

So I pick my 6 year old up from school today and he immediately opens up his backpack and hands me this:

and this:

Are. You. Ready.
Check it out. It seems that he started off with the basic stuff on the first one and then he remembered a few more of the elements from Strong Bad's tutorial and worked those in as well. Ok, so the eyebrows aren't angry and the 'S' body is a little backwards in the second one, but please, you are not EVEN going to dis' this child. As. If.

Hmmm...I had no idea he was paying so much attention to my clothes ... or maybe it was the hours online at homestarrunner.com ... or maybe all of the Homestar videos and other stuff that I got. What?? I'm sorry, but these people bring many smiles and bouts of laughter to the Nova Lair and I've just got to support that.

Saving the best for last, I give you Peasant's Quest:

Well, g2g

So, really, honestly . . . what are we going to do with this child when he's doing all this of his own volition at this age. What will come later?

By the 7th grade he'll be wrapping the Chrysler Building in silk shantung and barbed wire.

Wow, the Chrysler Building ... you really think so? I can honestly say that that possibility never occurred to me, although I've heard that young artists *do* often go through a massive architectural structure exterior design phase. Yeah, you're probably right. *snort*

He drew another one yesterday, complete with an exclamation point after Trogdor (!). The whole thing is rather odd because it seems like Trogdor was somehow the unofficial mascot for last weekend. I am not sure why though ... it just seemed like everyone was singing the Troggie theme song. Also, I was wearing my new Trogdor t-shirt, and Ian even spotted him in a guitar (yes you read that right - no, I am not going to attempt to explain it). Personally, I think the more we enjoy Homestar Runner, the better. I think you should all go and get you some right now.

Anyway, I can't wait to see what he brings home today - we rewatched the SBemail for it last night, so who knows how that may effect his art du jour. ???
