Nueve Días
Well I was thinking I'd wait until I had a little more to say about it, but cranking these entries out isn't exactly rocket science. If it were then Terry would be the only blogger I know. =)
So anyways ... Sharon Jones and the freaking Dap Kings are going to be at SxSW. How much does that RULE?? That is a show to NOT be missed. I love, love, love them. I was a little saddened by the fact that their showcase is at the exact same time as The Brian Jonestown Massacre showcase, but luckily I found out that TBJM has a day time performance that I can catch, so I am going to have to settle for that. Miss Sharon is definitely dominating my Friday night, midnight time slot. Another band that was on my absolutley-not-to-be-missed list is Helmet and they are at 12:45 that same night. Here's hoping that Redrum Annex and Antone's are right next door to each other. *crossing fingers*
Another hard call is the Girls In Hawaii, Vallejo, Fatal Flying Guilloteens ALL at 11 PM on Thursday night. Alright who makes these schedules? Like it is _so _hard to schedule 1300 bands to perform at ~50 venues in 5 days? Please. I could do it with my eyes tied behind my back ... or something like that. Just kidding. This is my lead in to a quick gush about the brilliance of the SxSW website. Well at least the music section, anyway. I pondered yesterday if they are included in the web awards that happen during SxSW Interactive. The music showcase portion of this website is absolutely amazing, imho. It is so functional and user friendly. It is kind of funny how the music section goes from being nearly impossible to browse through (before they make the schedules, when all of the bands are listed an one giant run-on paragraph) to being so elegant and easy to use. And SO much information! Ok, I'm done now. I am just really impressed. Although I can't really speak much about the rest of the site, I guess the entire site would have to be as good as the music section to be award-worthy.

While I would highly, highly, highly recommend Vallejo, I wouldn't miss other bands to see them at SXSW. They are a regular visitor to Houston and you can see them when they're here. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case it helps you make a decision.

I know - I listened to their song (on the SxSW site) and I am really wanting to see them now. FFG also play often in Houston too because they are from Houston - I've just managed to never see them yet. Girls In Hawaii however are from Belgium, but I really don't know much about them other than I liked the song they put in their profile, so - hmm.... ???
Thanks for the input, it all helps =) You're the whole reason Vallejo ended up on my list!!!

Unfortunately, Antone's and Redrum Annex are about as far apart as any two sxsw venues could get. Antone's is on 5th street, a couple blocks west of congress; Redrum in on 6th, almost as far east as 35. Probably a 20 minute walk.

:(
I had a feeling someone was going to say that.
...maybe I should wear my roller blades. Although, thinking back, I don't imagine that being very safe ... the street was like one enormous garbage can.
Oh well, I'll have it figured out by next week.

I would see 90 seconds of each of the 1,300 bands there. In 5 days, you could pull it off. Think of the aural stimulus that would be. Think of the exercise you'd get. Think of the absolute absurdity of attempting such a thing.

Yeah... it would be so cool to be able to physically occupy multiple 3 dimensional locations simultaneously. And like have all of your senses work at each one. But like still somehow be only one person.
