The Brave Chicken Little Goes to Zathura and Lavagirl 3-D
Okay. Am I just easy? I've rented and watched 4 videos with my kids in the past two weekends and I have loved all 4 of them.
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D -
This movie just completely encourages and celebrates imagination. My little boy loves this movie and has since started carrying around a dream journal just like Max, the main character in the movie. Awesome!
Zathura -
We were greatly anticipating the release of this movie way before it came out (last November) so it is odd that I have only just now seen it, but such is the case. We all really like it - I never saw Jumanji [both stories were written by Chris Van Allsburg], but it seemed like many people who had seen it were not very thrilled about Zathura. I say, nuts to them - this was a fun adventure that kept us on the edge of our couch the whole way through. And the actual game was so cool!! I want one. I might be too afraid to play it though.
The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars -
This movie was definitely for the little ones, but I had to fall in love with it when TBLT arrived on Mars only to run into a talking Viking lander. That's the way to score bonus points in my book, baby. I could have done without the Viking being all disgruntled about the whole one-way-ticket-to-Mars thing, but this movie was riddled with all sorts of odd political messages that were fortunately easy enough to overlook.
Chicken Little -
This was the shocker. I had NO interest in seeing this movie whatsoever, but man! am I glad we watched it. It was probably my favorite out of the 4. So good ... we've already watched it three times. I guess the best thing about it [**SPOILER**, um, do you really care?] was the whole alien angle thing that I was not expecting at all. And their aliens were so great!! See? I am all about creativity and letting the imagination run wild. I am. I am a total sucker for that stuff, I admit it.
Or maybe I am just easy.

We rented Tora Tora Tora through Blockbuster online. It came Friday and I was so stoked. Saturday I get ready to sit and watch with the Teacherman. Unfortunately the disc was broken. Doh! :(

Um ... I am sure the kids were very disappointed.
A broken disk? That sounds odd. Did you get another one yet? I've never rented through the mail before.

I put it in the mail on Sunday. Hopefully we'll get another one before the weekend.
